Summer is Here - Be Safe!
Posted on Jun 2nd, 2015

Summer is here! Warm days and cool evenings are perfect for being outside. To help you have a safe and enjoyable summer, the Office of the Fayette County Sheriff hopes you keep the following safety tips in mind.
1. Never lock your valuables in your car where they can be seen.
2. Keep doors in your home closed and locked, including garage doors. When you are at home with your doors open, always keep your screen doors locked.
3. Make sure your neighbors are safe. Attend neighborhood meetings, form telephone trees, and create a neighborhood watch group to ensure the safety of your neighbors. As temperatures increase, take time to check on your elderly neighbors, and make sure they have everything they need.
4. Alert police to any unusual activity in your neighborhood.
5. Parents: Provide a list of phone numbers of neighbors, family, and friends that your child can call in an emergency. Make sure your child knows how to dial 911 and when it is appropriate to do so.
